Information we collect

Information you provide

We collect information you choose to give us, for example when you email us or leave a comment. This may include your name, email address and the content of your message or comment.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, certain information may be collected automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages, pages viewed and the date and time of your visit. This information is generally collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We and our service providers may use cookies to make the Site work properly, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the Site and, where applicable, support advertising or affiliate tracking. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect how some parts of the Site work. Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

Analytics

We may use third-party analytics services to understand how visitors find and use the Site, so we can improve our content. These services may collect information such as the pages you visit and how long you stay, and they process this information according to their own privacy policies. Where available, we use settings that limit the data collected. We currently use Histats, a visitor statistics service, which sets cookies and records information such as the pages viewed, referring site, browser type and approximate location; see the Histats website for how it handles data.

Advertising

Some articles on this Site show advertisements served by Adsterra, a third-party advertising network. To show and measure ads, the network and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies and may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device information and the pages you view. This processing is governed by Adsterra’s own privacy policy. Advertisements are clearly labeled and do not influence our editorial content. You can limit ad tracking through your browser settings, for example by blocking third-party cookies.

Comments

If comments are enabled and you leave one, your name, the comment and the time it was posted may be publicly visible. We may also store your email address and IP address to help prevent spam and abuse; your email address will not be published. We reserve the right to moderate or remove comments.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store the first name (optional) and email address you give us as a subscriber account on this website, together with the date and the page you signed up from. We use this only to send you our newsletter and related updates. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete this information at any time by contacting us.

Reader stories and photos

If you send us a story through our Share Your Frenchie Story form, we collect the name you want shown, your email address, your optional city or region, your dog’s name and age, your story and any photos you upload. We remove location and other metadata from photos when they are uploaded. Submissions are reviewed before anything is published. If we publish your story, the name, location, dog details, story and photos you provided may be shown publicly; your email address is never published and is used only to contact you about your submission. You can ask us to edit or remove your story and photos at any time.

Contact by email
