Welcome to French Bulldog Advice. French Bulldogs bring a lot of joy, and a lot of questions. From skin folds and breathing to feeding and exercise, Frenchies have needs that are a little different from many other breeds, and good answers are often scattered across vet manuals, research papers and breed club pages. This site brings those answers together in one place, in plain language.
Who we are
French Bulldog Advice is an independent, research-based website. We are not veterinarians, and we do not present ourselves as long-time Frenchie owners. What we do is careful research: every guide is built from published veterinary guidance, university veterinary resources, breed standards and peer-reviewed studies, and we list the sources we used at the end of each article so you can check them yourself.
Our mission
Our goal is simple: to help French Bulldog owners make good decisions for their dogs. We focus on advice you can actually use at home, and we are honest about where home care ends and a visit to the vet should begin.
- Practical: step-by-step routines, checklists and schedules rather than vague tips.
- Source-based: grounded in established veterinary guidance and research, with sources cited in every article.
- Honest: we tell you what is uncertain, what varies between dogs, and when something needs professional attention.
Our editorial approach
Research first
Before we write, we read what reputable sources actually say: organizations such as the American Animal Hospital Association, the World Small Animal Veterinary Association, the Merck Veterinary Manual, veterinary teaching hospitals, the American and Royal Kennel Clubs, and published studies such as the VetCompass research on French Bulldogs. Where evidence is limited or opinions differ, we say so rather than presenting a single view as settled fact.
Checked before publishing
Each article goes through a separate fact-check against its sources before it is published. Claims we cannot trace back to a reliable source are removed or clearly marked as general guidance.
Reviewed and updated
Veterinary knowledge changes over time. We review our articles and update them when guidance changes, when readers point out something unclear, or when we find a better way to explain things.
Real owner experiences
When we share an owner’s experience or photo, it comes from a real French Bulldog owner who gave us permission, and we say so. If you have a Frenchie story or photo you would be happy to share, we would love to hear from you: share your Frenchie story. Published stories appear in Reader Stories.
No paid placements disguised as advice
Our recommendations are never for sale. Some pages may contain affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. These links never influence what we recommend, and we do not publish sponsored content presented as independent advice. You can read more in our Disclaimer.
What we are not
We are not a veterinary practice, and our articles are not a substitute for professional veterinary care. Every dog is an individual, and your own vet, who can examine your dog and knows their history, is always the best person to advise on their health.
